LEADING BRAKE SHOE C/W LINING
Leading brake shoe with lining fitted, for the quickly detachable rear wheel drum brake.
This is the leading brake shoe, complete with lining, for the quickly detachable rear wheel setup. It shows up in the catalog under the older W1046 designation as well, so if your parts book lists that number instead of 37-1046, you're looking at the same shoe.

The leading shoe is one half of the pair that lives inside the rear brake drum on the QD wheel — it's the shoe that the drum rotation pulls into contact harder as the brake is applied, which is why brake sets are split into leading and trailing shoes rather than two identical parts. This one comes fitted with its lining already riveted or bonded on, ready to go into the drum.
Our catalog record ties this to the quickly detachable rear wheel figure with appearances spanning 1964 to 1965. If you're not sure whether your rear hub uses the QD wheel arrangement, give us a call before ordering so we can confirm fitment.
