Spire nut
A spire nut used behind Triumph side panel badges to hold the badge screw without needing a wrench.
This is a spire nut, the small clip-style fastener used behind the side panel badges on late Triumph 750 models. It's a thin, slightly arched nut designed to grip onto the sheet metal from the back side, so when you drive the badge screw in from the front, the nut holds itself in place without you needing to get a wrench back there to hold it steady.

It shows up in the catalog under the AIR CLEANER AND SIDE PANELS figure, and it's a cheap item to keep a few spares of since they're easy to lose or mangle once you've pulled a badge off a few times. The catalog lists it across the 1978-1983 span.
If you're replacing side panel badges or doing a repaint and pulling everything off the panels, grab a handful of these while you're at it - they're not something you want to be short on mid-reassembly.
