BSA Nut, brake lever to cam spindle (7/16" B.S.C.)
A 7/16 inch B.S.C. nut that secures the rear brake lever onto the cam spindle.
This is the nut that secures the brake lever onto the cam spindle at the rear wheel, part number 2-440. It's a small but important fastener - it's what keeps the brake operating arm clamped down on the spindle so that when you pull the lever, the cam turns the shoes against the drum instead of just spinning loose on the shaft.

Catalog listings show this nut in the REAR WHEEL figure, sized at 7/16 inch B.S.C. thread. It shows up across two catalog entries tied to 1969, so if you're working on a bike from that era and pulling the rear brake assembly apart, this is worth checking against what's on your spindle now before you order.
If the threads look chewed up or the nut won't hold torque anymore, it's a cheap fix to keep the rear brake lever from working loose while you're riding.
