Cable adjuster and nut (99-1031)

A cable adjuster and nut for handlebar control cable runs, listed as 18/1708 (also 99-1031), later superseded by 18/838.

PN · 18/1708
Superseded by 18/838.

This is a cable adjuster and nut, listed in the parts books as 18/1708 and cross-referenced to 99-1031. It shows up in the handlebar, control lever, and cable figures, as well as the petrol tank and twinseat control figures, which puts it at the control end of a cable run rather than down at the carburetor or the brake itself.

An adjuster like this lets you take slack out of a cable without pulling the whole run apart - you back off the nut, turn the adjuster to set the free play, then lock the nut back down. Because it turns up across both the standard petrol tank/control figures and the glass-fibre tank version, it looks like a common item across those control setups rather than something unique to one variant.

Our records show this part was later superseded by 18/838, so if you're chasing this one down and it's out of stock or discontinued, that's the number to ask about. Catalog appearances run 1969 through 1971, but we don't have enough here to pin it to one specific model - give us a call and we'll help confirm fitment before you order.
