Layshaft c/w high gear (20T)
Gearbox layshaft assembly with 20-tooth high gear fitted, catalog number 57-1843 (alias T1843).
This is the layshaft with its high gear already fitted, 20 teeth, out of the gearbox shafts and gears section of the parts book. The layshaft rides below the mainshaft in the gearbox and carries the sliding and fixed gears that give you your ratios as you work the box. This particular listing is the complete layshaft assembly with the 20-tooth high gear installed, not just the bare shaft.

In our records this one appears under the older T1843 number as well as the current 57-1843, so if you're working from an early parts book and see T1843 called out, that's the same physical piece. It shows up across catalog entries running from 1964 to 1967.
If you're rebuilding a gearbox and pulling the old shaft, worth checking the condition of the bearings and bushes it runs in while you have the case open, since you're already in there. Give the shop a call if you want us to confirm this is the right shaft for your box before you order.
