QUADRANT SPINDLE

Gearbox quadrant spindle (PN 57-0399) from the selector mechanism, also known by its earlier parts-book number T0399.

PN · 57-0399

The quadrant spindle, PN 57-0399, is a gearbox internal from the selector mechanism. In the parts book it shows up under the figure for the gearbox selector mechanism, where it carries the change quadrant that the gear lever pivots against when you work through the ratios. The older parts-book form of this same part is T0399, sometimes listed as T399, so if you're working from an early book and see either of those, you're looking at this same spindle.

Catalog rows for this one span 1960 to 1962, which tells you where it turns up in the books but not a specific model — if you need to confirm it's right for the gearbox you're rebuilding, bring in your casing or the number off your existing spindle and we'll check it against the book together.

It's a low-key part but an important one for smooth shifting: wear or slop at the quadrant pivot shows up as sloppy, imprecise gear changes, so if your box feels vague going through the gears this spindle is one of the things worth inspecting.
