Selector fork rod
Selector fork rod from the gearbox inner cover and selector mechanism, the shaft the shift forks ride on.
The 57-0291 is a selector fork rod out of the gearbox inner cover and selectors assembly. It's the shaft that the selector forks pivot and slide on as you work the gear pedal, letting the forks move the gear pinions into engagement. Older parts books list this same piece under the T291 number, so if you're working from an early catalog and see that stamped on the rod or listed on the page, it's the identical part.

This one shows up in our records tied to 1968 gearbox internals, filed under the inner cover and selector fork mechanism. It's a simple shaft, but it takes wear over time from the forks riding back and forth on it, so if you're rebuilding the selector assembly it's worth checking the bore fit in the forks themselves while you're in there.
If you're not sure which rod your box needs, bring in the old one or the gearbox inner cover casting number and we'll match it up before you order.
