Steel ball (0.25 in. diam.)
A 0.25 in. steel ball used as a detent/plunger ball in gearbox, selector, and control mechanisms; later renumbered 60-2364.
S70-3 is a small steel ball, a quarter inch in diameter, that turns up all over the gearbox and control mechanisms on these machines. It's the kind of part nobody thinks about until it's missing, working as a detent or plunger ball wherever a spring needs something round to push against - selector mechanisms, control pedals, clutch operating gear, and covers on both the gearbox and the frame area all call for this same ball in the parts books.

Because it's a generic-shaped component rather than something unique to one assembly, S70-3 shows up across a long list of figures - gearbox outer cover, oil pump and control pedals, frame complete, selector mechanism, and clutch operating mechanism among them. That range in the catalog isn't fitment to a specific model, it just means this ball gets specified wherever a small steel sphere is needed against a spring.
The factory eventually renumbered this part to 60-2364, so if your parts book or an older invoice shows S70-3, that's the same physical ball under the current number. Worth having a couple on hand given how many little assemblies call for one.
