Front fender chrome
Chrome pressed-nose front fender, 5-hole pattern, cataloged 1976-1978 as 97-7003 (later 97-7039).
This is the chrome front fender for the pressed-nose style used in the mid-to-late 1970s, catalog number 97-7003, later renumbered to 97-7039 under the factory's revised part numbering. It's the pressed-nose design with five mounting holes, showing up in the FENDERS section of the parts book across catalog listings from 1976 to 1978.

A front fender does the obvious job of keeping road spray off the fork legs and the front of the engine, and on these bikes it mounts up front over the wheel using the stay and bridge hardware called out elsewhere in the same fender section. If you're ordering one, have your stay and bridge pieces on hand or confirm you've got the matching mounting setup, since fender shapes and hole patterns changed across these model years.
If your parts book lists this as 97-7039 instead, that's the same physical fender under the later number - either one gets you to the right part.
