SEAT HINGE OIL IN FRAME (Alternate 83-7542)
Seat hinge for oil-in-frame Triumph twins, works with its mate 83-7542, catalogued 1973-79; supersedes 83-4802.
This is the seat hinge for oil-in-frame Triumph twins, PN 83-4782, catalogued for use with the frame's own oil-carrying backbone that doubles as the seat mounting point. It works alongside its mate, 83-7542, and the two get listed together in the parts books under GAS TANKS AND TWINSEAT as well as REAR BRAKE figures, since the seat hinge assembly sits right where the seat pivots up near the tank and back toward the rear of the bike. Older parts books may show this same piece under 83-4802, which this number superseded.

The hinge lets the seat swing up out of the way for access underneath without you having to pull it off the bike entirely, and it's built to protect the seat base and trim from getting crushed at that pivot point. Catalog listings for this hinge run from 1973 through 1979 across the entries we've seen, so it shows up across several years of oil-in-frame production in our records.
If your parts book lists 83-4802 instead of 83-4782, that's the same physical part under its earlier number. Give us a call if you're not sure whether your seat uses this hinge or its companion piece, and we'll sort it out before you order.
