UK-style main fuel petcock with standpipe, chrome plated brass body, for the gas tank fuel shutoff.
This is the main fuel tap for the gas tank, the UK-style petcock with a standpipe, and it's built with a chrome plated brass body. It's the one you turn on every time you ride, mounted at the bottom of the tank and feeding fuel down to the carburetor. The standpipe means it draws fuel from a bit above the bottom of the tank, leaving sediment and water behind rather than pulling it straight into your carb.

Catalog listings show this part sitting in the GAS TANK and GAS TANKS AND TWINSEAT sections, with appearances running from the early to mid 1970s in our records. It's often listed alongside its companion, 83-2801, which is the reserve tap that mounts on the opposite side of the tank. You'll also see this one under the older F12800 numbering if you're working from a different parts book.
Since this is a fuel-carrying part with a threaded body seated straight into the tank, it's worth checking the condition of your tank's threads and any sealing washer when you swap one in.
