Lower chainguard
Lower chainguard for the rear chain run, catalog PN 82-4199 (also listed as F4199).
This is the lower chainguard, listed in the catalog as 82-4199 with the older F4199 number also on file for the same part. It shows up in the swinging fork, suspension units, and chainguard section of the parts book, so it lives back at the rear of the bike, down around the swinging arm where the chain runs.

A chainguard's job is straightforward: it keeps the final drive chain from throwing oil and grit onto the rider's leg and the rest of the machine, and it keeps loose clothing or fingers away from a moving chain. The "lower" designation tells you this is one piece of what was likely a two-part guard arrangement, with this one covering the bottom run of chain.
Our catalog record ties this part to appearances spanning 1964 through 1966, but it doesn't spell out an exact model. If you're matching this up to a specific machine, give us a call and we'll confirm fitment before you order.
