Brake operating rod

Rear brake operating rod linking the brake pedal to the rear brake arm on swinging arm Triumph twins, mid-1960s catalog era.

PN · 82-3597
Available in 2 thread types:

This is the rear brake operating rod, the part that runs from the brake pedal back to the operating arm on the rear brake at the swinging arm. It's a mechanical link in a cable-and-drum setup, not part of any hydraulic system, so there's no fluid or caliper involved. When you press the pedal, this rod transmits that motion back to the brake arm to apply the shoes.

On the catalog side this part shows up under the older F3597 numbering as well as the current 82-3597, so if you're working from an older parts book don't be surprised to see the F-prefix form listed for the same rod. It's cataloged across the swinging fork and suspension unit figures, which tells you it lives back by the rear suspension and drivetrain area rather than up front.

The catalog entries for this rod run through the mid 1960s, so it's associated with that era of swinging arm frame Triumphs. If you've got a later bike with UNF threads instead of the earlier CEI thread standard, this may not be the correct rod for your setup - worth checking against what's actually threaded into your brake arm before you order.
