Distance piece
A crankshaft spacer that sits between the engine sprocket and the alternator rotor to keep the rotor properly positioned.
This is a distance piece that fits on the crankshaft, positioned between the engine sprocket and the alternator rotor. It's a simple spacer, but it does a real job: it sets how far the rotor can travel onto the crankshaft, keeping it lined up correctly against the stator inside the primary case.

It shows up in the crankshaft and connecting rod sections of the parts books, so it's very much a bottom-end component rather than anything you'll see from outside the cases. Not a part most owners think about until they're in there for a crank rebuild or a clutch and alternator job, but it needs to be in place and in the right spot for the electrics to line up properly once everything goes back together.
Our catalog listings for this one span from the mid-1970s into the mid-1980s, so it's worth checking your own parts book or giving us a call if you want to confirm it matches what's on your bench before you order.
