BSA Gasket — carburetter to manifold

A paper-type gasket that seals the carburetor to the intake manifold, part number 71-1421.

PN · 71-1421

This is a gasket that seals the carburetor to the intake manifold, part number 71-1421. It's a small paper-type sealing piece that sits right where the carb meets the head, keeping the intake tract airtight so the engine pulls clean air and fuel through the venturi without an air leak throwing off the mixture.

It shows up in the parts book under the cylinder head and rockers section as well as the cylinder barrel, exhaust pipes, and valves listing, which tells you it's grouped with top-end engine work rather than anywhere further back in the induction system. The catalog appearances run from 1971 to 1972.

These gaskets are thin and don't take kindly to reuse once they've been compressed and heat-cycled, so if you're pulling the carb off for cleaning or a rebuild, plan on a fresh one going back in. Check the catalog listing against your parts book before ordering to make sure it matches your application.
