HEAT SHIELD TRI C MOD 68-
placeholder
This is the muffler heat shield Triumph fitted to the TR6C and T100C, the wire-basket style guard that wraps around the silencer to keep exhaust heat off boots, legs, and gear when a rider is standing on the pegs off-road. Folks around the shop and in the catalogs sometimes call it the 'chip basket' shield because the open wire construction looks a lot like a fry basket. It shows up in the parts books as PN 70-9680, with E9680 as the earlier alias.

You'll find it listed under the exhaust pipes, undershield, and footpegs figures for the T100C, and under the exhaust pipes and mufflers figures for the TR6C and related sheets. It mounts over the muffler body rather than the header pipe, which is typical of the scrambler-style Triumphs that were meant to be ridden standing up.
The catalog spans model years 1969 through 1972 across its several appearances, all tied to the TR6C and T100C lines. If you're not sure which muffler or exhaust setup you're running, give us a call before ordering so we can confirm it'll clamp up right.
