Joint washer
Joint washer sealing the timing cover at the contact breaker area on the engine.

This is a joint washer that lives under the timing cover, in the same area as the contact breaker on the engine. Its job is simple: it seals the mating surface between the timing cover and the crankcase so oil stays where it belongs instead of seeping out around the cover screws. It's a thin, one-time-use gasket-style piece rather than anything structural.
