Silencer mute
A silencer mute (diffuser) that fits into the exhaust outlet to quiet the exhaust note.
The 70-4076 is a silencer mute, sometimes called a diffuser, that fits down into the outlet of the exhaust system. It's the part that quiets the bark of the exhaust down when you want to keep things civil, and pulling it back out restores the fuller exhaust note.

This one shows up in the catalog under the TWINSEAT, REAR PANELS AND EXHAUST SYSTEM figure, so it lives with the exhaust hardware toward the back of the bike rather than being an engine-side component. The catalog appearances we have place it in the early-to-mid 1960s range, and it also carries the older E4076 designation if you're cross-referencing against an older parts book.
If you're trying to quiet a bike down for noise rules or just want a mellower exhaust tone without swapping silencers outright, this is the part that does that job. Confirm the outlet size on your silencer before ordering, since the catalog record here doesn't spell out dimensions.
Sorry if we got something wrong here. If you think this information isn't correct, .
