Stud (3 7/8 in. O.A.)
Crankcase stud, 3 7/8 in. overall length, for mounting the front engine plate to the case.
This is the 70-2888 stud, a 3 7/8 in. overall length piece that lives at the crankcase, tying the front engine plate to the case. It shows up in the crankcase figures across catalog years 1964 to 1970, and it carries the older E2888 number if you're working from an early parts book.

Studs like this one thread into the case and take a nut on the outside face, holding the front engine plate solid against the crankcase. Six catalog appearances across those years tell us it stuck around a while, but the exact model fitment isn't spelled out in our records, so check it against what you're working on before you order.
If you're pulling one of these to replace it, look it over for stretch or corrosion in the threads before deciding whether to reuse it or swap it out.
