HIGH GEAR BEARING RETAINER
High gear bearing retainer for the gearbox, holds the high gear bearing in place; also listed as 57-0489.
The 70-0489 is the high gear bearing retainer used in the gearbox, holding the bearing on the high gear (mainshaft) end of the assembly in place. It shows up across gearbox shafts and gears figures as well as the inner cover and selectors figure, which tells you it's a small but necessary part of keeping the gear cluster located correctly inside the case.

This part carries the earlier factory number 57-0489, so if your parts book or an old parts bag has that number on it, you're looking at the same retainer. It's a low-cost item to keep on hand when you've got the gearbox open, since retainers like this can get bent or worn during disassembly and are easy to overlook until reassembly.
Our catalog record spans a range of years across several gearbox figure listings, but it doesn't spell out which specific models it fits in any given year. If you're matching this against a running gearbox, check the physical retainer against what's in your case before ordering, or give us a call and we'll help confirm fitment.
