BSA Rear safety bar (left-hand)
Left-hand rear safety bar, a to-order accessory listed with the rear carrier and short seat setup.

This is the left-hand rear safety bar, listed in the catalog as an option under the rear carrier and short seat setup. Safety bars mount at the back of the bike and give a bit of protection to the rear fender and side panels if the bike goes down or gets bumped in parking, and they also served as a passenger grab area on some setups of the era.
