BSA Lockwasher — rotor nut
Lockwasher fitted under the rotor retaining nut on the crankcase/generator end of the engine.
This is a lockwasher that fits under the rotor nut on the crankcase, part of the alternator/generator end of the engine. Its job is to keep that nut from working loose once it's torqued down, which matters here because the rotor spins with the crankshaft and you don't want anything backing off behind it.

It shows up in the crankcase and crankcase-generator sections of the parts books, alongside the rotor and its retaining nut. Catalog appearances for this one run from 1969 through 1972, and it's also listed under the older number 68-325, so if your parts book uses that form, it's the same washer.
Small part, but it's the kind of thing worth replacing rather than reusing once you've had the rotor off — a tired lockwasher won't hold like it should.
