Circlip
A small retaining circlip used in both the front fork and crankshaft/connecting rod assemblies.
This is a circlip, part number 60-7269, showing up in Triumph catalog records under the telescopic front fork figure as well as the crankshaft and connecting rods figure. That double appearance tells you this is a small retaining ring used in more than one place on the motorcycle, not a fork-specific or engine-specific one-off.

A circlip's job is straightforward: it seats into a groove on a shaft or in a bore and stops another component from sliding out of position along that axis. In the fork it likely helps retain a seal or internal component; in the crankshaft assembly it would be doing similar duty holding something in place along the crank or rod pin. Our catalog data doesn't spell out exactly which specific component it retains in either location.
These show up across catalog rows from 1980 through 1983, so it's a part that stuck around across a run of years without much change. If you're chasing this down for a rebuild, have your fork or bottom-end apart in front of you so you can confirm the groove it belongs in before ordering.
