Oil seal, gearbox sprocket
Oil seal for the five-speed gearbox high gear, fitted at the drive sprocket end to keep gearbox oil in.
This is the oil seal that rides on the gearbox high gear, right where it meets the drive sprocket area on the five-speed box. It keeps gearbox oil from working its way out along the shaft and past the sprocket, which is exactly the kind of leak that shows up as a damp patch on the primary side or oil creeping onto the clutch.

It shows up in the parts book under GEARBOX SHAFTS AND GEARS, and the catalog record for this number spans a good number of years in the five-speed gearbox lineup. It's a wear item — seals harden and shrink with age and heat, so if you're pulling the gearbox apart for any reason, it's worth putting a new one in rather than reusing the old one.
Sold individually. If you're chasing an oil leak in this area, check the sprocket and bearing it seats against while you've got things open, since a scored shaft or worn bearing bore can keep a new seal from doing its job.
