This is the joint washer that seals the gearbox inner cover to the crankcase, listed in the parts books under the GEARBOX INNER COVER AND SELECTORS figure. It's a gasket, not a metal washer in the fastener sense - it keeps oil where it belongs at that mating surface. Older parts books list this same piece under the 8T legacy number, and Triumph later carried it forward under the CD-534 part number, so if you're working from a different book don't be surprised to see either of those in place of 57-7012.

Catalog records put this gasket in gearbox inner cover work across 1976 through 1985, and it turns up in six separate catalog listings over that span, which tells you it's a piece that gets replaced whenever the inner cover comes off. It's not an expensive part, but a torn or hardened one will leak, so it's worth having on hand any time you're in there for selector work or a clutch job.

If your parts book shows the CD-534 number instead of 57-7012, that's the same gasket under Triumph's later numbering - either number should get you the correct part.
