MAINSHAFT c/w LOW GEAR
Gearbox mainshaft complete with low gear, listed in the gearbox shafts and gears section, later superseded by 57-2436.
This is the gearbox mainshaft, sold complete with its low gear already fitted, listed in the parts book under GEARBOX SHAFTS AND GEARS. The mainshaft is the shaft that carries the gear pinions inside the gearbox shell and transmits drive from the layshaft assembly through to the sprocket end, and having the low gear supplied on the shaft as one unit saves you the trouble of fitting it up yourself.

Our catalog record shows this one turning up under the earlier T3893 form before the number was written as 57-3893, and the part was later carried forward under a newer factory number, 57-2436. If you're working from an older parts book or a box of used parts with a different number stamped or tagged on it, it's worth checking that number against 57-2436 before you assume you've got the wrong shaft.
We only see this part tied to one catalog entry, so we don't have a lot of extra background on it beyond what's in the gearbox shafts and gears listing. If you're rebuilding a box and aren't sure which mainshaft you've got out of it, bring it in or give us a call and we'll help sort out what you actually need.
Sorry if we got something wrong here. If you think this information isn't correct, .
