SEAL CUP,500 TRI 500 KICK
Seal cup housing for the kickstarter shaft in the gearbox outer cover on Triumph 350/500 unit twins.
This is the seal cup for the kickstarter shaft on the 350 and 500 unit-construction Triumph twins, living in the gearbox outer cover where the kick lever pivots through. It's the housing that holds the oil seal in place, keeping gearbox oil from working its way out past the kickstart shaft every time the lever is used. The catalog also lists PN 57-2239 alongside it, which is the seal itself that fits inside this cup.

On the older parts books this one shows up as T2238, same physical piece, just the pre-decimal numbering. It appears across gearbox outer cover listings from the late '60s into the early '70s for these smaller twins.
If you're chasing a kickstarter that seeps oil after use, this cup and its mating seal are usually where to start looking before you tear into anything bigger in the gearbox. Worth checking the housing for wear or damage at the same time you replace the seal, since a scored or distorted cup will let a new seal leak just the same as the old one did.
