This is a gearbox outer cover stud, 1.5 inches overall length, listed in the parts book under 57-1944 and its earlier form T1944. It shows up in the GEARBOX OUTER COVER AND LEVERS section of the catalog, so it's one of the studs that holds the outer gearbox cover to the case.

Catalog appearances put it in the mid-to-late 1960s range. If you're rebuilding a gearbox cover and one of these has snapped off or the threads have gone soft, it's worth replacing the stud rather than fighting with what's there.
