Outer chaincase

Outer primary chaincase cover, PN 57-1601 (also listed as T1601), from the chaincase and alternator assembly.

PN · 57-1601

This is the outer half of the primary chaincase, listed in the parts books as PN 57-1601, with the older letter-prefix form T1601 also on file for the same part. It shows up in the CHAINCASE AND ALTERNATOR figure, which tells us it's the cover piece that closes off the primary drive on the alternator side of the engine, keeping the chain and clutch enclosed and the oil bath contained.

Our catalog record only ties this one to appearances spanning 1960 to 1962, so we can't say more about which specific models it covers beyond that. If you're matching this up to your bike, give us a call and we'll go over what you've got before you order.

As an outer cover it bolts to the inner chaincase to form the full primary enclosure. Beyond that, the record doesn't give us dimensions, material, or finish details, so we're not going to guess at specs we don't have in front of us.
