KICK START PINION SPRING
Kickstart ratchet pinion spring for the gearbox, sold individually, also known by its older T1250 part number.
This is the kickstart pinion spring, a small part in the gearbox that keeps the kickstart ratchet mechanism doing its job. It sits down in the gearbox shafts and gears area, working with the ratchet pinion and its sleeve so the kickstart engages when you swing the lever down and disengages cleanly once the engine fires. On the older parts books this one shows up as T1250, which is just the pre-1973 numbering for the same physical part - if your book still lists T1250 you're in the right place ordering 57-1250 today.

It turns up across gearbox figures spanning a long run of catalog years, which tells you this spring saw service across a lot of different gearbox variants and rebuild kits over the decades, including some 5-speed gearbox listings. It's a simple wear item, but a tired or broken pinion spring is the kind of thing that causes a kickstart to feel off or not hold engagement, so it's worth checking when you've got the gearbox apart anyway.
We sell it individually, not in a set, so grab as many as your rebuild calls for. Since it shows up across a wide span of gearbox configurations, have your parts book handy to confirm it's the right one for what you're working on.
