Outer chaincase
The outer chaincase cover for the primary drive, sealing in the chain and clutch on the left side of the engine.
This is the outer chaincase, the cover that bolts over the primary drive and closes off the chaincase compartment. It's the part you look at from the left side of the bike - the panel that seals in the primary chain, clutch, and alternator so oil stays where it belongs and road grime stays out. In the parts books it's shown in the CHAINCASE AND ALTERNATOR figure, which tells you it's grouped with the alternator hardware on the inside.
