Shield, warning light

A rubber warning-light shield used inside the headlamp/instrument cluster to block stray light between warning lamps.

PN · 54525212
Current factory number 06-8050 — same part, sold under this listing.

This is a warning-light shield that sits in the headlamp shell area, tucked in with the speedometer and tachometer or the flasher lamp cluster depending on which figure you're going by. Its job is to keep stray light from one warning lamp bleeding over into the next, or to shade a warning bulb so it reads properly against the other instrument lighting in the shell.

The part shows up across a run of catalog listings from 1971 to 1974, appearing in headlamp and instrument figures as well as general electrical equipment listings, so it's a piece Lucas supplied across several bike variants rather than one specific model. It's also cataloged under 06-8050 and 68050, and the factory carried it forward under 06-8050 as the current number, so if your parts book lists either of those, you're looking at the same shield.

It's a small rubber piece and easy to overlook when doing an instrument or headlamp shell rebuild, but if it's cracked or missing you'll notice light where you shouldn't. Confirm which figure matches your headlamp shell setup before ordering, since this same PN shows up across several different cluster configurations.
