Stator, R.M.19 1 A.C. Ignition
Lucas RM19 stator for AC energy-transfer ignition, mounted in the primary chaincase; later superseded by part 47197T.
This is a Lucas RM19 stator, the fixed coil-and-plate assembly that sits inside the primary chaincase and generates the AC current for energy-transfer ignition. It works alongside the rotor to feed spark energy directly to the ignition coils rather than through a battery-fed system, which is how a lot of the competition-oriented 1960s twins were set up.

Catalog records for part 47188 run 1966 to 1967 and place it in the chaincase and chains figures, so it lives behind the primary cover with the alternator rotor and the rest of the charging gear. It was later superseded by part 47197T, so if you're chasing a replacement and your parts book lists that number instead, it's the same physical stator under a later factory number.
When you're pulling one of these, check the wiring and rotor clearance while you're in there, since the stator has to sit right for the ignition output to be correct. Confirm fitment against your specific machine before ordering, since the catalog data here doesn't spell out every model this went into.
