This is a stator, listed in the parts books as type RM18. It's a Lucas electrical component, part of the alternator setup that generates power for the bike's lighting and ignition circuits. The stator sits fixed inside the primary case, with the rotor spinning around it on the crankshaft, producing AC current that gets fed to the rectifier.

Our catalog entries for this one show it appearing under the STATOR, TAIL LAMP AND STOP LAMP SWITCH figure across a 1963 to 1964 span. That's a narrow window and a light appearance count in our records, so beyond confirming it's an RM18-type stator, we don't have much more to go on.
If you're trying to match this against what's currently in your primary case, give us a call and we'll work through fitment with you rather than guess at it.
We've never carried this one. Tell us what you're after and we'll go looking — you'll get a price and photos before you commit to anything.
