BSA Nut, anchor strap to swinging arm (3/8" British Standard Cycle)

3/8 inch BSC anchor strap nut that clamps the rear brake anchor strap to the swinging arm.

PN · 41-4105

This is the nut that secures the anchor strap to the swinging arm, cut to 3/8 inch British Standard Cycle thread. It shows up in the swinging arm and footrests/brake linkage sections of the parts book, which tells you it's doing duty back where the rear suspension pivot meets the frame and the brake anchor strap ties in.

The anchor strap keeps the rear brake torque arm from rotating with the wheel, and this nut is what clamps that strap down at the swinging arm end. It's a small, easy-to-overlook fastener, but if it's missing or the wrong thread it'll either not seat properly or strip out under the leverage the brake puts on it.

Our catalog record ties this to appearances across 1969-1970, so if you're working on something outside that window, check the thread and stud diameter against what you've got before ordering.
