BSA Shim, layshaft
A layshaft shim from the gearbox cluster, used to set end float on the layshaft.
This is a shim for the layshaft in the gearbox, listed in the catalog under the GEAR CLUSTER figure. Shims like this go on the layshaft to take up end float and keep the gear cluster running true inside the case, so gears mesh right and don't wander side to side under load.

The catalog record ties this one to appearances across 1969 to 1970 model listings, but it doesn't spell out which specific machine or engine size it belongs to, so check it against your own gearbox before ordering.
We don't have more detail on this one beyond the figure it shows up in. If you're rebuilding a gearbox and sorting out shim stacks for correct layshaft float, give us a call and we'll help confirm fitment.
