BSA Rocker inspection cover
A rocker inspection cover for a BSA single-cylinder engine, fits over the cylinder head to allow access to the rocker gear.
This is a rocker inspection cover, the small cap that sits over the cylinder head so you can get a look at (or get a feeler gauge into) the rocker gear without pulling the whole head apart. It shows up in the cylinder head and exhaust pipe sections of the parts books we have on file, which puts it up top of the motor near where the rockers and valve gear live.

The catalog listing for 40-0208 runs from 1969 to 1970 in our records, though we only see it turn up twice across the books we've got. The manufacturer tag on this one says BSA, and the grounding note we've got calls it out as a cover for a single-cylinder engine, so this looks like it belongs on a BSA single rather than a Triumph twin.
If you're trying to match this to a specific engine, give us a call and we'll go over what you've got before you order - the record we have doesn't spell out which exact model this pairs with.
Sorry if we got something wrong here. If you think this information isn't correct, .
