Grease retainer - left
A thin steel grease retainer/shim used on the left side of the front or rear wheel bearing assembly.
This is the grease retainer, listed on the left-hand side, that shows up in the front and rear wheel bearing setups. It's a thin steel washer that sits against the wheel bearing to keep grease where it belongs and to act as a shim so the hub lines up correctly. Simple part, but it matters when you're stacking bearings, spacers, and seals back into a hub during a wheel rebuild.

The catalog shows this one appearing across front brake and both front and rear wheel figures from the later '70s. It's an easy part to lose track of during a teardown since it looks like just another washer, so keep it separate and put it back exactly where it came from.
If you're rebuilding a hub and this one's bent, scored, or missing, it's worth having a replacement on hand rather than trying to reuse a tired one.
