BRAKE SPRING 1971-72 FRONT CONICAL HUB

Brake shoe return spring for the 1971-72 Triumph front conical hub, holds and releases the brake shoes on the plate.

PN · 37-3714

This is the brake shoe return spring for the front conical hub, part number 37-3714, listed in the parts books as W3714 in its earlier form. It sits on the front brake plate inside the conical hub, working against the pair of brake shoes.

The job of this spring is straightforward but important: it holds the shoes in their correct resting position against the brake plate and pulls them back away from the drum surface once you let off the front brake lever. Without it working properly the shoes can drag or sit unevenly, which shows up as uneven wear or a brake that doesn't fully release.

This one shows up in the catalogs for the 1971-72 front conical hub setup. If you're not sure whether your front end uses the conical hub versus another hub style, check before ordering, since the spring for one won't do you any good on the other.
