CIRCLIP - GEARBOX HIGH GEAR BEARING RETAINING -TRI 500
Circlip that retains the high gear bearing in the Triumph 500 gearbox, PN 37-0680 (alias W680).
This is the circlip that retains the high gear bearing in the gearbox, listed in the catalog under 37-0680 (older books show it as W680). It shows up in the gearbox shafts, bearings, and inner cover section for the 500cc Triumph twin, keeping that bearing seated on the shaft where it belongs so nothing walks around under load.

It's a small part but an important one - if a retaining circlip like this lets go or gets reused past its useful life, the bearing can shift and cause gearbox trouble that's a lot more work to sort out than the clip itself. Worth putting a new one in anytime you've got the gearbox apart and this bearing out.
We don't have a lot more detail on file beyond its place in that gearbox shafts and bearings figure. If you're working on a gearbox from a different displacement or era, give us a call and we'll confirm this is the right one before you order.
