Taptite screw
Self-tapping Taptite screw that retains the mesh screen on the front brake plate.
This is the Taptite screw used on the front brake plate, the small self-tapping fastener that holds the mesh screen in place on the twin-leading-shoe front brake. It threads directly into the brake plate casting rather than into a separate nut, which is the whole point of a Taptite design — it cuts its own mating thread on installation.

In the catalog it shows up under the FRONT WHEEL heading, and the older parts books list it under the S650 or 21-650 form before it settled into the 21-0650 number we use now. It's a small, easy part to lose track of, so if you're rebuilding a front brake plate and the screen rattles or the old screw is buggered up, this is the one to replace.
We don't have a lot more written down on this one beyond that it's a brake plate screw for the front wheel — if you're not sure your brake plate takes this exact fastener, give us a call and we'll help you confirm before you order.
