BSA Nut, kickstart crank cotter (.266" B.S.C.)

Nut for the kickstart crank cotter pin, .266 in. B.S.C. thread.

PN · 2-2578

This is the small nut that clamps the kickstart crank onto its cotter pin. It's a .266 in. B.S.C. thread, the size used specifically for this cotter arrangement, and it shows up in the catalog under both the gear cluster and the outer timing cover/kickstart/footchange figures.

The cotter pin itself pinches the kickstart lever onto its shaft, and this nut is what draws the cotter down tight so the lever stays put when you're kicking the engine over. It's a small part but an important one to have snugged up right, since a loose cotter will let the kickstart lever work its way loose on the shaft.

Our catalog record ties this to 1969 appearances only. If you've got a different year machine, give us a call and we'll confirm before you order.
