Tail lamp lead grommet
Rubber grommet that seals and protects the tail lamp wiring where it passes through the fender.
This is the rubber grommet that seals the hole where the tail lamp wiring passes through the fender or mudguard. It sits at the point where the harness lead runs from inside the rear fender out to the tail lamp itself, keeping the wire from chafing against bare metal as it exits the panel.

It shows up across the fender and tail lamp figures in the parts books, alongside the headlamp and switch wiring diagrams, since the tail lamp lead runs the length of the bike from the harness connections up front back to the lamp. It's a small item but an important one — a missing or perished grommet leaves the wire insulation resting against a metal edge, which over time wears through and can short the circuit.
Our catalog entries for this one span 1969 to 1973, appearing in eight separate listings tied to the fender and tail lamp wiring figures. If you're rewiring the rear end or fitting a replacement fender, it's worth checking this grommet along with the rest of the tail lamp lead.
