BSA Rear damper complete, solo, (Girling S.4971)
A complete Girling S.4971 rear damper (shock absorber), solo-fitment spec, for the swinging arm/rear suspension.
This is a complete rear damper unit, listed under Girling's own reference S.4971. The catalog calls it out as a solo-fitment unit, which just means it's spec'd for a bike run without a passenger or sidecar in mind, rather than the stiffer setup you'd see on a machine loaded up for two-up riding.

Rear dampers do the obvious job: they control the motion of the swinging arm so the back wheel doesn't just bounce free after every bump. This part number shows up in the swinging arm and rear brake control sections of the parts book, which tracks with where a rear shock lives and what else shares space back there.
Our records only show this one turning up in catalog entries from 1969 and 1970, and the manufacturer code on file points to BSA rather than Triumph, even though it's a Girling-made unit. If you're trying to match this to a specific machine, give us a call and we'll go through fitment with you before you order.
We've never carried this one. Tell us what you're after and we'll go looking — you'll get a price and photos before you commit to anything.
