Split pin

A 1/16 in. x 3/8 in. split pin used to lock nuts and clevis pins in place at various points on the bike.

PN · 1/16 IN. X 3/8 IN.

This is a 1/16 in. x 3/8 in. split pin, the small locking pin used to keep a nut or clevis pin from working loose once it's tightened down. It shows up across a number of different areas of the bike in the catalog record - swinging fork and suspension mounts, control cable linkages, footrest and chainguard fittings, and prop stand hardware - anywhere a nut or clevis pin needs a positive lock rather than just friction.

The part number itself is the size: 1/16 in. wire diameter by 3/8 in. length, so it's a small pin meant for lighter-duty locking jobs rather than the bigger pins you'd find on axles or swingarm pivots. It turns up in catalog rows spanning 1963 through 1967, though the record doesn't narrow it down to one specific model.

The manufacturer tag on this listing says Amal, but a split pin is just generic hardware - it's not a carburetor part, and we wouldn't call this an Amal-made piece. It's the kind of small item worth keeping a few of on hand since they're not reusable once bent open and removed.
