Norton Axle Assembly

Rear wheel axle for the Norton Commando disc-type rear wheel setup.

PN · 06-5553

This is the rear wheel axle assembly for the Norton Commando, listed against the disc-type rear wheel setup. It's the shaft the rear wheel spins on, carrying the wheel and hub assembly and tying into the swinging arm at the back of the bike.

Our catalog record ties this one to the 1975 model year, and one catalog listing we've seen ties it to the 850 Commando Mark III specifically. If you're working on a different year or Commando variant, check the axle length and thread details against your own parts book before ordering, since rear axles on these bikes were revised more than once over the production run.

This is a Norton part, not a Triumph one, despite showing up in a numbering scheme that sometimes gets mixed in with British bike parts generally. If you've got a Commando with the disc rear brake, this is the shaft to look at when the rear wheel needs to come out or the axle itself is worn, bent, or corroded.
