Norton Shaft, Intermediate Gear1
Intermediate gear shaft from the engine timing gear train, part number 06-1078.
This is the intermediate gear shaft that lives in the timing chest, part of the crankshaft, connecting rod, piston, and camshaft train shown in the engine timing gear figures. The intermediate gear rides on this shaft and passes drive between the crankshaft timing pinion and the camshaft gears, so the shaft itself is a fixed pivot point rather than something that spins with the engine.

Our catalog record for 06-1078 only shows the one entry, tied to 1975, so we don't have a broader spread of years to point to for this part. If you're matching this up to your engine, check the shaft against what's actually in your timing chest before you order, since we can't confirm fitment beyond what's on file here.
Given the number format and the description, this looks to be a part for one of the makes outside the Triumph lineup we usually handle at the counter. Call or send us photos of your timing chest layout if you want us to help confirm before it ships.
Sorry if we got something wrong here. If you think this information isn't correct, .
