This is the clutch operating ball that lives inside the gearbox inner cover, part of the mechanism that pushes the clutch rod and disengages the clutch when you pull the lever. It's a small but important piece in the actuating chain, and if it's worn or missing you'll notice it in clutch feel and free play.
