Norton Key, Camshaft Sprocket

A small locating key that fits the camshaft sprocket onto the camshaft in the timing gear area.

PN · 00-0572

This is the Woodruff-style key that locates the camshaft sprocket on the camshaft, part number 00-0572. It shows up in the crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, camshaft and timing gear section of the parts books, so it lives down in the timing chest area doing the job of keying the sprocket to the shaft so it can't rotate independently once torqued down.

It's a small, easy to overlook piece, but if it shears or goes missing your cam timing goes with it. Worth checking whenever the timing cover is off and the sprockets are out, since it's cheap insurance in terms of labor even if it's a five-minute part to inspect.

Our catalog record for this one spans several years of appearances without pinning it to one specific model, so if you're chasing exact fitment for your engine, give us a call and we'll confirm before you order.
