NUT 3/8X26 - ZINC PLATED - Add S for stainless
A 3/8-26 nut, zinc plated (stainless available), used across multiple fastening points on 1960–1969 Triumphs.
PO172A is a 3/8-26 nut used across a wide range of jobs on these bikes — it shows up in the parts books for the swinging fork and suspension units, the frame, the petrol and oil tanks, the cylinder block and head on the T110 and TR6, the cylinder block and head on the T120, and general engine and gearbox fittings. That spread tells you this is a general-purpose fastener the factory used wherever a 3/8-26 stud or bolt needed a nut, not a single dedicated part.

The catalog lists it as zinc plated, with a stainless version available by adding an S to the part number. Given how many different figures call for this nut, it is worth having a few on hand — check your own parts book against the specific figure you're working from to make sure this is the nut called for at that point on the bike.
With 43 catalog appearances spanning 1960 through 1969, this is clearly one of the more commonly needed small parts in the shop's bins for that era of Triumph.
